Dreger: "Very little chance that Zdeno Chara is traded"
/Darren Dreger was on Toronto’s TSN 1050 on Wednesday afternoon.
On if there’s any chance at all the Bruins could move Zdeno Chara, even though the Bruins aren’t in the rebuild mode yet:
“No, they’re not in the rebuild mode yet. I think that there’s very little chance that Zdeno Chara is traded, certainly between now and March 2. Maybe, and this is a big maybe, that conversation is had internally going into the summer and into draft.
“But Boston, as we all know, is a very emotional city when it comes to its sports and the Bruins don’t escape that. Cam Neely is quoted in the Boston Globe by our friend Kevin Paul Dupont and that certainly has elevated the temperature when Cam Neely announces that he’s disappointed in this team and obviously expects more and they’re open for change.
‘Zdeno Chara, the captain, is now starting to feel the heat in Boston, at least from the media. So that’s where that speculation comes from.
“But I don’t get the sense that he’s in play in any way, shape or form between now and March 2.”
