Maloney: Domi could play for Coyotes this season
/Coyotes GM Don Maloney was on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Tuesday morning.
As part of a discussion on how Max Domi is progressing:
“Max has had a terrific season. He plays for London in the Ontario Hockey League. Was a star for Team Canada at the world juniors over the Christmas holidays... He’s done everything we would have expected and more.
“And it’s a really good example, guys, of being patient with your younger players. Letting them grow at their own pace. We’re obviously in the background. Steve Sullivan is our development coach. He’s helped Max along the way.
“But all in all, really excited about Max. He has front-line ability. I know we’re having a tough year this year. Every Coyotes fan knows we’re struggling to score. We’re struggling to create some offense. One thing that Max brings, when he comes to the table, is speed and quickness and offensive power.
“So we’re really excited about where his game is at. We expect him to, depending on how his season progresses – London will be a playoff team in the OHL. If they were to lose out relatively early, there’s a potential to even bring him to Arizona for at least a cup of coffee at the end of the year.
“So nothing but good things on the horizon for Max Domi.”
