Dreger: Linking Senators' Lehner to Oilers "premature" at this stage

Darren Dreger was on Ottawa’s TSN 1200 on Thursday afternoon.

On Robin Lehner, the Edmonton Oilers, and the latest on teams calling for his availability:

“Well, I don’t think there’s a ton of action, to be honest with you. We know that Craig Anderson isn’t available and I think that speaks more to the fact that they’re waiting for Robin Lehner to maybe mature as a goaltender to find out what they have.

“That’s not to say Bryan Murray wouldn’t trade Robin Lehner. I’m sure that he’s tried to get some conversation going. It’s believed that maybe he’s had discussions with the Edmonton Oilers. I’m sure he’s had discussions with other teams. But I don’t get the sense that there’s anything that’s working there.

“I do know that acquiring a goaltender, either via trade or free agency, is among top priority for Craig MacTavish in Edmonton as he moves forward toward the trade deadline.

“But to link Robin Lehner to Edmonton at this stage I think is premature.”
