Gilmour on Phaneuf, Leafs' assistant coach gig

The Toronto Star indicates the Leafs have not called any teams about the possibility of trading team captain Dion Phaneuf. 'A few' general managers contacted them at the trade deadline and more recently.

Two other notes in the article:

Doug Gilmour, who was the captain of the Leafs for several seasons, offered some advice to Phaneuf.

“Keep your head up. Just absorb it. Don’t run away from it.”

Also this:

Gilmour, about to ink his name on a new three-year contract as GM of the Kingston Frontenacs, was not remotely intrigued in a coaching job with Prague of the Kontinental Hockey League, much rumoured recently. He does, though, have at least some interest in filling one of the Leaf assistant-coach vacancies. “Food for thought. If somebody approached me, I’d have to consider it.”
