Waite's lasting impact on Blackhawks' Crawford

Montreal-born Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford, via The Montreal Gazette, indicates he's not surprised Canadiens goaltending coach Stéphane Waite has helped Carey Price's game this season.

Waite's influence was critical in the development of Crawford and Antti Niemi during the mentor's 10-year tenure with the Blackhawks.

“He knows what to pick on, what he has to help you with,” said Crawford. “He knows how to catch bad habits and how to get the best out of you. He’s a guy who wants to come to the rink and put the work in and be successful. That’s really what it takes, to come here and be on the ice early and work with him.”

Also: “He meant a lot of lot to me. He was the main aspect of my growing as a goaltender in pro hockey. I grew up with him and I learned not only about goaltending, but a lot about myself as a person.”
