Ovechkin says he'll never ask Capitals for trade
/Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin has faced a lot of criticism this season, despite racking up a lot of goals.
CSNWashington.com has the blow-by-blow account of his time with the media Monday, including a few particularly interesting tidbits.
"My job is to give everything that I can for this organization. I don’t want to think about a trade, I don’t want to think about if I’m going to be traded. I’m never going to ask to be traded. If it’s going to happen it’s not going to happen [through the media]. It’s going to happen to Ted or general manager because it’s personal and you have to be respectful with organization."
Ovechkin had a number of thoughts worth checking out on Adam Oates, as well as past coaches. As far as the Oates 'quit on the play' comment, Ovechkin said he and the coached talked about it.
Ovechkin owns what happened on the play.
"Yeah, of course we talk. I feel bad, but no excuses. I know as a captain I can’t stop playing but I did and it was my fault. He give me bad words, but it is what it is."
Ovechkin also delves into his huge minus stat and being the focal point for the criticism.
