Benning: Today's meeting between Canucks, Tanev's reps "went well"

Canucks GM Jim Benning was on Vancouver’s TSN 1040 on Thursday morning.

On the status of a  contract extension for Chris Tanev:

“This morning we met with Chris Tanev’s representatives, just to talk about Chris and stuff and try to get to a place where we’re both happy on a deal going forward. So Trevor, Laurence and I just finished meeting with him and I think the meeting went well.

So you’re pretty close?

“Well, we’re going through the process. We’re not close to getting a deal done now, but we’re talking, we’re communicating and we’ll get it figured out.”
