Dreger: Bruins had "fairly extensive talks" with Blues, Canucks, Coyotes
/Darren Dreger was on Montreal’s TSN 690 on Thursday morning.
On if we anticipate St. Louis being one of the more aggressive teams on the trade front, and what their appetite might be:
“Yeah, you know the appetite recently was pretty strong to get something done. I know St. Louis and Boston were in I would call fairly heavy negotiations. T.J. Oshie’s name has surfaced. I don’t know that to be true, so I’m not throwing that out there in connection to Boston. But the Bruins are looking for a winger. And I know that they fairly extensive talks with the St. Louis Blues and likewise with Vancouver, and Arizona. The Antoine Vermette rumors aren’t going to go away until he finally gets traded.
“But St. Louis is a team that has pretty lofty expectations, as they should. They feel like they’ve been a contending team in that Western Conference for a few years now, but they just haven’t been able to realize their goal or materialize that.
“So one thing I know about Doug Armstrong – he knows how close this team might be, but he also knows how far they’ll be. So he’ll be active, I’m sure, if the right opportunity presents.”
