Dreger: Anderson, Lehner, Ward not yet linked to Wild trade interest

Darren Dreger was on Ottawa’s TSN 1200 on Wednesday afternoon.

On if he’s heard if the Wild are targeting a goaltender, and if that might be Cam Ward or Craig Anderson:

“No, they’re definitely targeting a goalie. But specific to Anderson, Lehner, Cam Ward, maybe another goaltender who might be available – no, there’s been no connection there.

“Again, I think Chuck Fletcher is making sure that he makes the right decision and not just try and bring in a stop-gap, if you will. Goaltending has been poor in Minnesota, there’s no question about that. The coach will acknowledge that. The manager will acknowledge that. Fletcher will tell you if the right fit is out there and there is a source improvement in goal, then he’s going to do what he can to make that deal.

“But he also doesn’t want to let the players off the hook. It’s not just goaltending. They’ve had some bad luck too. Obviously Zach Parise’s situation with his father passing recently is weighing heavily on the family, and ultimately on the Minnesota Wild organization as well. So there have been a calamity of things that have attacked this group.

“But I do know that Chuck Fletcher is at least interested in acquiring a goalie. But to say it’s Cam Ward or it’s Craig Anderson or anyone specific, we don’t have that information yet.”
