Leaner Lecavalier has "clean slate"

Vincent Lecavalier has dropped “4-5 pounds” and has decreased his fat percentage without losing muscle mass. CSNPhilly.com’s Tim Panaccio reminds readers how Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall tried to deal Lecavalier during the summer after a trying season for the forward, but had no takers.

Lecavalier looks at this season as a "clean slate."

“Look, I’m a proud guy,” Lecavalier said. “It was a tough summer. An accommodation would have been good for myself and another team, but nothing materialized out of it.

“I am happy here. I like the guys on this team. Obviously, the end of the year was tough on me. Game 7 was tough. I move on. You have to move on. And I believe in this team.”

Part of the issue last season was Lecavalier not faring well when he was moved from center to the wing. This year, head coach Craig Berube says Lecavalir will start as a pivot.

“That is significantly good to hear,” Lecavalier said. “I am more comfortable in the middle. If I go on the wing this year, I know I have to be better.

“If it’s me watching more video and do little things after practice to make my game better on the wing, then I’ll do that. I believe in what I can. I’ve been playing for so long.”
