Selanne, Robitaille are 'true Hall of Famers'
/The New York Times examines the formidable hockey footprints still being left in Southern California by Anaheim Ducks winger Teemu Selanne and Los Angeles Kings executive Luc Robitaille.
Ian Laperriere played with Robitaille on the Rangers and Kings and also had a deep admiration for Teemu Selanne.
“The way he handled himself on and off the ice, it was an honor to play against a guy like that,” Laperriere, now an assistant with Philadelphia, said.
“Today and even in the past, you have guys that think they’re superstars and great players but they’re not; they’ll never be in the Hall of Fame. Those two guys are not like that; they’re very humble. They treat everybody with respect around them, and these are the true Hall of Famers in my book.”
Robitaille was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009 and Selanne will be an automatic selection upon eligibility.
