Friedman thinks Gretzky, Capitals have had contact
/Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet 960 Tuesday.
The interviewed covered a number of topics, including the rumoured interest between Wayne Gretzky and the Washington Capitals.
Friedman begins by addressing when the Capitals might begin filling the vacant GM and coaching positions.
"One of the things I think they wanted to do was keep the focus on the basketball team, the Wizards, who are in the second round of the NBA playoffs...
"It hasn't happened a lot for them. I think it's just the second time in about 20 years. So they wanted the focus on them. So the Wizards are down 3-1 to Indiana and once that series gets closed out, I think we're going to hear a lot more about them.
"I do think they've been doing some interviews for the GM. The one thing I've really been having trouble pinning down, and I'm not surprised considering the subject Pat, is exactly how much there is to all the Gretzky stuff. Like, I think he's definitely interested. I think he wants back in. I think they've had contact with him. I just don't know how serious it is.
"I think there's some other potential names that could go in there too, but I do think we're going to start to hear a lot more about it once the basketball team is out of the playoffs."
