Canucks' Linden sought Neely's advice

Several noteworthy interviews in The Vancouver Sun concerning Trevor Linden's hiring as president of hockey operations of the Canucks.

Pat Quinn and Joe Sakic offer their perspectives, while Cam Neely - who is president of the Boston Bruins - reveals that Linden sought his advice in the days leading up to Wednesday's announcement.

“He asked a lot of questions from the moment I got back with the team to how things kind of evolved,” said Neely. “The biggest thing I shared with him is to make sure you listen and surround yourself with good people. I’m not saying there aren’t good people there, but you know what I am saying. It’s a learning process, there’s no question. I am still learning and the big thing is to really take input, digest everything and again if you have good people around you it certainly helps.”

Also: “There is still that fire, passion and desire to win and that doesn’t quit,” Neely said. “You are just competing in a different way and you are not on the ice.”
