Gallagher, Lucic ready to put friendship aside
/The Vancouver Province outlines the fairly well-known friendship between Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher and Boston Bruins power forward Milan Lucic.
“We never talk about it during the year,” Gallagher said of the rivalry between the Canadiens and Bruins, “but we’ll talk about it a little during the summer. When we get together in the summer, we’ll talk about the guys he hates and the guys I hate. That’s just how it works.”
Milan Lucic furthered the thought now that the teams are set to do battle in the second round of the playoffs.
“In the regular season, you might let something slide a little bit, but, now that it’s playoff time, you have to let somebody know if they’re crossing the line, no matter who it is,” said Lucic.
“I’m not the only guy he has to worry about if something happens. We’ve got a lot of big boys on our team and especially on the back end. Everyone in our D core isn’t afraid to be physical. That’s what makes them so good. Those are the guys he has to worry about more than me.
“As much as I like him as a player and as a person, I really dislike seeing him in that jersey. I dislike the fact that Ian is, naturally, a Montreal Canadiens fan now. It’s one of those things. You can’t control what happens on draft day, you can’t control where guys end up.”
