Eriksson learned from Holmstrom's net-front presence
/Bruins winger Loui Eriksson recalls, via The Boston Herald, how fellow countryman Tomas Holmstrom made his living annoying and screening opposing goalies.
“I want to be in front,” Eriksson said. “That’s where the goals are scored."
On Holmstrom: “I think everyone knows how good a job he did in front of the net in this league,” said Eriksson. “I think a lot of guys look at that and how he was in front. He always was in front of the goalie and did a good job there. That’s a good guy to watch if you want to learn something about that.”
Coach Claude Julien offered this on his Eriksson:
“Loui has just been good for us ever since he got over those injuries. He’s a player that everybody from our organization saw him as being. He’s great up front, he’s a smart player, he manages the puck well, he doesn’t make many mistakes, and he’s a guy that’s always been good in front of the net as well. I know we’ve got him on the half wall because we’ve got a different type of power play, but the 5-on-3, he’s the designated guy to be in front of the net because he’s good at it. So that’s an area he excels in, and he did a great job.”
