Whitney, Selanne share special moment

DallasNews.com indicates that with 41-year-old Ray Whitney slated as a UFA this summer, the Stars have showed no indication of wanting to re-sign him.

With the Stars and Anaheim Ducks clashing in this first round series, playing against the retiring Teemu Selanne has made Whitney really appreciate his career.

“It’s no secret, I am getting up there, and it’s something I’m proud of,” Whitney said. “Teemu and I were discussing it on the ice the other night during a timeout, just saying what a pleasure it was playing against him for so long, and he said the same thing, which was very nice of him. It is a tribute that if you can play in the league this long, you’ve done something right. It’s something we should all be proud of, whether you’re 40 or not.”
