Canucks' Booth seeks to regain top-end speed
/The Vancouver Province pours over the option the Canucks will have this summer of buying out the final season of David Booth's contract, or hope he can rebound for a strong season with good health.
Booth wants to stick around.
“I see myself as a power forward who can take pucks to the net and can score,” said Booth on Thursday. “I don’t think you’re labelled a scorer or a physical player — you’re both — and obviously Kesler is one of the best at that. I can do those things. Those are things I can do when I’m healthy and with a whole summer of training. I’m going to be working hard to prove not only to myself, but to a lot of people, I can still contribute.”
As far as his extra-curricular activities and any impact on hockey training?
“People say I train too much or have too many hobbies or activities,” shrugged Booth. “I don’t enjoy a Friday or a Saturday at the pub. I may be a little different in that sense, but I train very hockey specific through the summer and work on agility and quick feet. Last summer, I couldn’t do any of that. I can get as fast as I ever was.”
