Schneider feels no rush on extension with Devils

With all of the talk surrounding Martin Brodeur's potentially final games with the New Jersey Devils, there's still the not-so-small matter of the organization locking up Cory Schneider to a contract extension. His current deal expires after next season and while he says there have been no discussions to date, signing an extension could happen this summer.

“Of course it’s possible,” Schneider said, via The Star-Ledger. “There are so many things that go into it. I don’t know what the team’s thinking is. They have to want to do it. If the circumstances are right, then of course it’s a possibility.

“If the things that go into it are not all there, it’s not a problem to wait. I’m under contract for another year. Deals get done all the time at the start of a season or throughout the year, so if it’s not done July 1 there is no reason to panic or think that it won’t get done.”

Also: "I know a little bit more to make more informed decisions and just sort of see where we’re headed as a team. That’s important to me, as well.”
