Avalanche's MacKinnon loves battles in the corner
/The Denver Post takes a detailed look at the specific differences in responsibility between centers and wingers in hockey, especially with the Colorado Avalanche having to shuffle players back and forth continually with injuries.
Avs rookie Nathan MacKinnon, who should be considered the favorite for the Calder Trophy, has alternated between the two positions for much of the season.
"The best part about playing center, for me, is playing down low. I love playing in the D-zone and battling with guys in the corner," said MacKinnon. "It's less thinking and just the compete level and winning those little battles in the corner (is) always fun, especially this time of year, because it's always physical. I definitely enjoy that."
