Schneider would prefer three-point regulation wins in NHL
/New Jersey Devils goaltender Cory Schneider, via The Star-Ledger, was asked about his team's 0-9 record in the shootout this year and possibly missing the playoffs because of the lack of those extra points in the standings.
Many quotes on the subject, but the bottom line was accountability from Schneider.
“I don’t think we as a group are sour at the rules. We just have to look in the mirror and say, ‘Hey, we just didn’t get the job done.’ ”
He notes, "Everyone has the same circumstances, so you can’t say it’s fair or unfair for one team or another.
“I personally feel they should use the soccer system where you get three points for a regulation win and two points for an overtime or shootout and one if you lose in the shootout. I think it would put a little more emphasis on the 60-minute regulation game and de-emphasize the shootout a little bit.”
