Hartley reflects on Iginla trade anniversary
/The Calgary Sun recalls that March 27, 2025 was the day Jarome Iginla was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Eventually.
“It was probably one of the craziest days of my coaching career,” recalled Flames head coach Bob Hartley. “Before the game, he’s going to Boston. And then, after walking through the tunnel for the third period, we hear about Pittsburgh. I look at Jacques (Cloutier), I look at Marty (Gelinas), and I said, ‘What the hell is going on?’
“Before, we were told that it was done.”
The Sun relives how that whole trade/non-trade fiasco went down and Mark Giordano offered this about Iginla:
“He threw me a pretty nice text at the start of the year when I was named captain. I’m happy for Iggy that he’s really doing well out there. I think he’s really got a good chance this year of going far.”
