How Sundin impacted the Sedins

The Vancouver Province has an outstanding profile on Canucks captain Henrik Sedin, who will be honoured Sunday for playing his 1,000th game with the franchise.

The piece gives fans a rare lens through which to see Sedin; via the trainers, the equipment managers, and the strength coaches who are with the twins every day.

One particularly worthwhile note was from assistant equipment manager Brian Hamilton, who says that not only were Markus Naslund and Trevor Linden big supporters of the Sedins early on, but Mats Sundin was an influential voice in his brief time with the Canucks.

“He came in here and said right away, those guys are unbelievable hockey players,” Hamilton says. “That helped them, but I think it helped the people around them, too. They just took off after that year."

Tremendous story with the behind-the-scenes story on Henrik. Worth a read.

Equipment manager Pat O'Neill: "It’s hard for me to tell you about the respect they treat us all with.”
