Rangers' Richter inspired teenaged Lundqvist
/Rangers Rants notes that tonight when the Rangers take on the Hurricanes, Henrik Lundqvist will be trying to match Mike Richter's franchise mark of 301 regular season wins.
Lundqvist on Richter: “The first time I met him was actually the first time I was in New York as an 18 year old. I came over and I remember, because he was not playing that game, I came over to see one game, he was hurt. I don’t remember the year but I was 18 or 19. They said Mike Richter is here do you want to see him. I was a little scared. I had a lot of respect for the guy but they forced me into this room and he was right there so that was the first time I met him.
"It was cool to be there to watch that first game and to meet him. As an 18-year-old that inspires you a lot to work harder and to try and get there, no question about it.”
