Updated: Rangers, Girardi's camp still talking

Don Meehan, the agent for Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi, tells ESPNNewYork.com that his side and the Rangers have been in discussions over the past week and a half and that the lines of communication remain open.

Can they bridge the gap on a new contract extension? Meehan said it's 'too early to tell.' He remains optimistic though.
