Ryan's mixed feelings on Team USA
/Honest comments from Bobby Ryan, via The Ottawa Sun, concerning Team USA now that the Olympic break is all wrapped up.
“It was a weird situation,” Ryan said. “The guys I played with in 2010, I was really pulling for them. I really wanted them to back (to the gold medal game) and earn that opportunity again. Because you think about it for four years ... you were a goal away from the gold medal. I rooted for them, but at the same time you’re like, you want them to be wrong, a little bit right? You feel weird. When they get scored on you’re like, maybe they can get back in this, and when they score you’re like, dammit don’t score too many.
“But for me, I’m always going to root for those guys. I was rooting for Team USA and I wish they had done better.”
As far as Team USA's deflated effort against Finland in the bronze medal game after being beaten by the Canadians, well, Ryan gets it.
“Its human nature to have that letdown … I don’t know if to that level,” he said. “I felt for them. It’s a tough game to get back up for.”
