Dreger on Flyers' trades, Lecavalier, Schenn
/Darren Dreger was on Edmonton’s TSN 1260 on Thursday morning.
On how maybe trades wouldn’t necessarily involve the Oilers, but pressure has to be through the roof in Philadelphia:
"Yeah. I mean, all along we’ve talked about getting to the 20-game mark and Philadelphia was in that group of teams that was wanting to assess and analyze where they’re at. Now that they’re past that, it looks somewhat grim. Their biggest concern is on defense, but again, that’s a tough area to try and improve in-season unless you’re overpaying to get a player.
“But Hextall has a vision. He knows he’s got to improve this club. He knows he’s got to fix his blueline. He knows that he might require some changes up front. I still believe that at some point this season Vincent Lecavalier is going to get traded, but what do you get in return? So there’s a lot of pieces in Philadelphia that other teams want. But is the rate of return coming back going to be enough to execute that deal?

“Brayden Schenn’s name continually is out there. And it’s not because the Philadelphia Flyer are shopping him. It’s because he’s believed to be an attainable piece. A player that could be available for the right offer.
“So as long as Philadelphia continue to play as inconsistently as they have, then those trade rumors aren’t going to go anywhere.”
