Dreger on Berglund's availability from Blues
/Darren Dreger was on Edmonton’s TSN 1260 on Tuesday morning.
On if there is a chance the St. Louis Blues might be willing to listen on moving Patrik Berglund (as a continuation of this conversation):
“Yeah, you know what? I think chance is the right word. And for all of the reasons that you just articulated here. Lehtera is as good as was advertised. I think he’s been better than what Ken Hitchcock and Doug Armstrong thought he would be, as quick as he is - as quick as he’s developed and made and impact in the National Hockey League.

“So that’s a great find for the St. Louis Blues in terms of him being able to step in and be that player. And when that happens, then it does free up conversation. What do we need now moving forward to not just battle with the big boys - I mean, St. Louis can obviously do that in the Western Conference - but take it up a notch. What are their pushing needs? And I’m not so sure of that. Hitchcock, historically, has always looked for beefier guys – heavier players - in his bottom six. Could Patrik Berglund and something else translate into that? There’s never enough talent on the back end. And some – I’m not in this group – but some still question the goaltending of the St. Louis Blues and I think that’s unfair. I think that what they’ve got in Elliott and Jake Allen is good enough. And it’s going to have to get better if it’s going to contend for a Stanley Cup. But I can’t exclude the St. Louis Blues and the potential of Berglund being available.”
