Poile recalls trading for "rock star" Peter Forsberg
/Nashville Predators GM David Poile was on Toronto’s TSN 1050 on Monday evening.
On tonight’s induction of Peter Forsberg to the Hockey Hall of Fame:
“The first Predator is going to get into the Hall of Fame. They’re not announcing it as that, but... (laughs)
“... I saw him earlier tonight – I told him, which is absolutely the truth, that the most exciting time in our franchise history was when we traded for him. It was like getting a rock star, if you will, for our franchise.
“And the people that came out, our crowds, really got hockey stirred up there. We had Paul Kariya at the time. Unfortunately, as Peter reminded me, we just had no luck. He had no luck himself, injury-wise, and then we got to the playoffs and had two or three significant injuries, which was really unfortunate. But it was a very memorable time in our short history.”
