LeBrun: Edmonton will bid on next World Cup of Hockey

Pierre LeBrun was on TSN 690 Tuesday evening.

On the World Cup of Hockey in 2016 apparently only being hosted by Toronto and not jointly with Montreal:

“Keep in mind, the reason they want to make this a one-city event is they want to create a real interest in future cities wanting to host it. And so next time around, four years later or whenever it is, whether it’s Montreal or Vancouver or Edmonton –

“I guarantee with Bob Nicholson running the Oilers Entertainment Group and a new rink built in Edmonton, you better believe Edmonton will be bidding next time around. And some U.S. cities as well, if not places in Europe.

“So what the NHL is hoping to create long-term is that people want to bid on this event and fight for it.”
