Friedman: Oilers being patient on Puljujarvi front

Jesse Puljujarvi’s future with the Edmonton Oilers remains to be seen, but the franchise has turned down opportunities to deal him.

Elliotte Friedman had a Tuesday afternoon radio hit on Calgary’s Sportsnet 960, and had a brief trade-related mention when asked about the young winger.

“The bottom line is I know they’ve had offers, and they’ve said no,” indicated Friedman. “Anybody who is worried they would give him away - what I have been told is they’ve had the opportunity to do that and they just haven’t done it. So they’re at least being patient.

“The second thing is they know he’s unhappy. Now, I don’t have any information that it’s not fixable or that he said he will never play for them again or anything like that. But they know right now they’ve got a guy who’s not happy, and Edmonton has to decide what they want to do with that information.”

Puljujarvi is in the final season of his entry-level contract.
