Pekka Rinne is in the final season of his contract, but it sounds like his camp and the Predators are interested in working something out beyond this year.
Bob McKenzie had a brief mention during the Wednesday evening pregame show on NBCSN.
“He’s interested in staying, they want to have him, and there have been some very preliminary discussions between general manager David Poile of the Nashville Predators and agent Jay Grossman, who represents Pekka Rinne,” indicated McKenzie. “... The process is just beginning, but the expectation is they will try to work something out.”
Rinne, who will turn 36 November 3, is in the final season of a seven-year, $49 million contract that contains a modified no-trade clause, no-move clause.
The Predators signed Juuse Saros to a three-year, $4.5 million contract in mid-July.
