Friedman: Team told me "you can't trust" Jets' intel on Kane

Elliotte Friedman was on Calgary’s Sportsnet 960 on Monday morning.

As part of a much larger Evander Kane discussion, on if a change of scenery will be enough for Kane:

"I spent a lot of time calling around. 'What do you hear? What are you thinking?'

"One of the reasons I think it's going to be a longer process is that if you're interested in getting him, you really have to do your research. You're going to call everybody you can think of to say, 'Okay, tell me everything I need to know about this guy.'

"And there are some teams - and I would say that Philly and Washington are among them - who've probably done their research on him before. But now you've got to really go into, 'What happened this season? What's going on now?'

"And the line I got from one team is, 'This is nothing against the Jets, but you can't trust them.' Because it's their motivation to get this deal done. So they're going to tell you probably some negative things, but they're going to tell you a lot of good things. And you can't believe that.'

"So everybody is going to turn over every rock they can. 'What's there. What isn't there?' And figure out, 'Hey, where does this go?'

"It's been an interesting couple of days.
